Reciclado del vapor de agua en Sud America y su relacion con el ENSO

Resumo

La evaporación y evapotranspiración no desaparecen, sino que circula en la atmósfera como vapor de agua, y eventualmente cae como precipitación, o sea, la humedad se recicla. Los modelos muestran que el 40% de las precipitaciones en todo el mundo tiene origen continental, pudiendo ser mayor en ciertas zonas. El reciclado del vapor de agua es un proceso crucial en el sistema climático sudamericano. La evapotranspiración de la cuenca del Amazonas contribuye sustancialmente a la precipitación regional. Aproximadamente el 10% de las lluvias totales sobre el continente, así como 17-18% de la precipitación sobre la cuenca del Plata, tiene origen continental en la Cuenca del Amazonas. Por lo tanto las regiones netamente agrícolas de secano en nuestro país, Uruguay y sur de Brasil dependen fuertemente de la evapotranspiración ocurrida allí. En eventos en los que se intensifica el ENSO muestra que el 20 % de las lluvias de la región son aportadas por el vapor de agua reciclado. Estos resultados ofrecen una nueva mirada sobre el uso y gestión de los recursos naturales, pudiendo mejorar los análisis futuros relacionados con el cambio hidrológico, el cambio a gran escala en el uso del suelo y las relación tierra-atmósfera.
