This paper presents a model which may be utilized to evaluate production in institutions of agricultural research. The basic notion allowing comparisons among research units is the radial measure of relative efficiency of production. This measure, applied in this study to Embrapa's research centers, is general and can be extended to other contexts. The approach followed in the definition of the concept of technical efficiency is derived from the analysis of production frontiers via data envelopment analysis - DEA models.Downloads
