Abstract

This paper aims to examine the relations between agricultural research organization, especifically that of Empresa Brasileira de Pespuisa Agropecuária - EMBRAPA. It was framed in the following topics: relationship between organizations and society in general; discussion of the declared objectives of EMBRAPA and of the interface with the group interested in; analysis of the linkages between EMBRAPA and the results and its effects on the organization performance. Some suggestions are made in order to improve the research quality; to carry about systematically to the public knowledge the benefits offered from its research; to strengthen the links between research and its application with economic returns; to deepen the analyses for the intensification processes of priorities of research, on the rights of the results attained, and on the diffusion of these results.
