Os trabalhos de M.A. Rahman dizem respeito a um programa de atividades de desenvolvimento rural junto a populações rurais pobres em vários países do Terceiro Mundo, com aplicação de métodos de pesquisa-ação participativa. Tal programa é promovido pela Organização Internacional do Trabalho, com sede em Genebra (Suiça).
