Abstract

In this paper the notion of agrarian systems is used in the perspective of contributing for the knowledge of colonial agrarian societies, its changes and fragilities when pressed or subordinates to the exploration rhythms and use dictated by the mercantile capital. Are also mentioned in the Amazonian Basin the colonial institutions and the forces of the mercantile economy modeled a new agrarian system. Various effects of the disturbances of this colonization happened in Tocantins. The physical, economical and social space serves as scenery to consider the phenomena of a demographic reality of majorities to minorities, viewed through the: free persons and slaves that interacted in that environment during the colonial settlement and they still exercise influence on the current productive system.
