Abstract

In order to characterize and to delimit the ecosystems of fruit trees of the "Recôncavo Baiano" in relation to the Anastrepha species, a faunal study of the data of fruit fly collects with traps in five counties of the State of Bahia, Brazil, over the period of 36 months. For the characterization of the counties, the Anastrepha species index of constance, abundance, dominance and frequency was measured. For the delimitation of these localities the index of similarity and the percentage of similarity were determined. The predominant species in the region are: A. obliqua, A. freterculus and A. sororcula, being A. freterculus the only predominant species in the five counties and A. distincta only in "Cruz das Almas" City. A. obliqua is adapted to citrus orchards and A. fraterculus to the tropical fruit trees. The citrus orchards are similar to each other, in relation to the Anastrepha species, inclusively in the Experimental Stations (tropical fruit trees and citrus).
