Occurrence of Ectomyelois decolor (zeller 1881) in fruits of pinha (Annona squamosa, L.) In Alagoas, Brazil

Abstract

The occurrence of Ectomyelois decolor (Zeller 1881) (Pyralidae: Phycitinae) in Palmeira dos Índios, Alagoas state Brazil, is observed attacking sweetsop fruits (Annona squamosa L.). The insect, till that moment not verified in the region, takes economic relevancy considering the damage it causes to the fruits. Larva and pupa develop into the fruits injuring pulp and seeds, making them worthless to the comercialization.
