For the first time in Brazil, the occurrence of Acarapis woodi (Rennie, 1921) was dectected in Apis mellifera, L. from Santana do Livramento, Rio Grande do Sul. Of a total of 2.800 bees dissected, 830 came from Santana do Livramento and the remainder from the states of Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara. Twenty five samples proved to be parasitized. The trachea most infested held 13 ferms of Acarapis, from larva to adult.
