Abstract

Electrophoretic analyses of 192 Brazilian bean landraces from the CNPAF germplasm bank detected only the presence of "S" or "T" type phaseolin, and no variability within samples for this protein was found. From the total number of landraces studied 80,6 and 19,4 percent showed type "S" small seeds or "T" large seeds of phaseolin respectively. Furthermore the presence of this protein was uniformly distributed on the bean production areas.
