Abstract

In the pursuit of innovative solutions, the Brazilian government modernized its public procurement procedures. The price registration system (Sistema de Registro de Preços - SRP) and the electronic bidding are part of these innovations. This study aimed to investigate the adoption of these innovations, recommended by the federal government for public procurements by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa). From this perspective, a bibliographical and documentary research methodology of exploratory approach was adopted. Data regarding processes and commitments for the years 2006, 2013, and 2014 were analyzed using the Tableau Business Intelligence. The results allow us to affirm that, in 2006, the bidding represented 48.31% of the committed amount; in 2014, there was an increase of more than twenty-one percent points, raising this index up to 69.53%, in comparison to that of 2006. Regarding the number of processes in 2014 compared to that of 2013, the use of SRP contributed to the reduction of 823 processes, resulting in an operational economy of R$ 5,674,362.05. Therefore, the adoption of these innovations was beneficial for Embrapa.
