This paper analyzes the organizational change in broiler industry, in the decades of 70 and 80 in Brazil, toward integrated systems, using transaction costs theory as framework. The results showed (a) that unified vertical coordination is related mainly to flow and site assets specificity and (b) that hybrid coordination in broiler farms and transportation services is related to tradeoff between assets specificity and agency costs.Downloads
