The Brazilian experience in agricultural research economic evaluation is relatively recent and concentrates on efficiency analysis. On the other hand the experience in the analysis of the distribution of benefits is very limited, being the most important institutional efforts developed by EMBRAPA through the Department of Socio-Economic Studies and Research (DEP). This paper summarizes the studies developed and financed by EMBRAPA in the last years. With the advent of the PROCENSUL II Project, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank, for the 1985-90 period, EMBRAPA's studies on the distribution of research gains will be enhanced. Several studies are being planned to carried out in the next few years in collaboration with other institutions, especially universities. The most important studies proposed are synthetized in this paper. Finally, the paper presents a list of the mains aggregate studies related to equity issues which that will be developed by the new agricultural policy research area of EMBRAPA/DEP.Downloads
