Abstract

This study surveys training needs of settlers in the Integrated Colonization Project of Ouro Preto Country. Training priorities based on farmers responses were identified through means and standard errors of the knowledge and importance of each practice. Data from 133 settlers was collected and so analyzed using means and a combined index, called priority. From 61 initial activities judged, 19 were considered priority by farmers and 35 by their wives. Performance and discrepancy (difference between actual and ideal knowledge) composed the index priorities, whose list identifies activities for future training policies.
