This work describes the scientific productivity of the natural resource centers of EMBRAPA (Brazilian Agriculture and Cattle Raising Research Enterprise). It searches for the relationship between the scientific productivity and some individual variables. The basic data were obtained through questionaires applied to 163 researchers from three Natural Resource Centers of EMBRAPA: the Cerrados Agriculture and Cattle Raising Research Center (CPAC), located in Planaltina, DF; Agriculture and Cattle Raising Research Center of the Semiarid Tropics (CPATSA), located in Petrolina, PE, and the Agriculture and Cattle Raising Research Center of the Humid Tropics (CPATU), located in Belém, PA. The scientific productivity was measured by the number of yearly works published by the researchers. The increased age, college qualification, time of qualification, effective time on researching, total or partial mastering of English, order of periodicals, and participation in scientific associations (Brazil) determined the scientific production; however, the style of administration didn't affect the scientific productivity.Downloads
