The objective of this study is to detect the main "technological leaps" which have taken place in crops of corn, potatoes, soybean, coffee, wheat, beans and cotton. After observing the technological level utilized in these crops, the methodology employed consisted of a historical reconstruction of their cultivation process. In the first part an attempt was made to present a panorama of the global effort of agricultural research carried out by the public sector in Brazil. In the second part innovations are analyzed, principally those of biological nature, at each product level.Published
