This text is the second part of an evaluation of the São Paulo state public sector efforts on agricultural research, taking in account the regional economic and social evolution during this century. The first part — already published in "Cadernos de Difusão de Tecnologia", vol. 3 nº 1 — has analyzed the Campinas Agronomic Institute constitution and evolution, since the beginning of the century until the seventies. The second part, now presented, studies the impact EMBRAPA creation has caused on the research works of the São Paulo public sector. It is also closely examined the history and transformations of the São Paulo Biological Institute and of the Luiz de Queiroz Agronomic School. These two study cases supply additional information to this work as we also analyze its history and dynamics, before and after the EMBRAPA creation. As a last chapter, we evaluate the consequences from the organizational changes and suggest some alternative strategies to the agrarian research system.Published
