This work presents the conclusions of a study of an agroindustrial development project in Sapezinho, Bahia. An attempt is made at showing the limits of public intervention even in projects really oriented toward low income producers, coordinated by well intentioned researchers. It is concluded that there is a need to acknowledge the entrepeneurial capacity of rural producers and the structural limits of associativism, even though this might hurt the sensitivity of technicians and social scientists.Downloads
