Abstract

The effect of boron (0; 0.3; 0.6; 0.9; 1.2; 1.5; 2.0 kg boron/ha) on the yield and mineral nutrition of common beans var. Rico 23 was studied in a sandy-clay Red-Yellow Latosol. Differences in yield among the treatments were not significant. The concentration of boron in the loaves varied from 97 to 117 ppm, in soils with 0.36 to 1 ppm of hot water extractable. The concentration of N, P and K in the leaves were not affected by the application of boron.
