The author obtained positive results to inoculation, by oral route, in sheep, with a mesenteric lymph node and intestinal mucosa emulsion from a bovine with Johne's disease. The observation period was of 2 to 5 years. During this period the sheep were tested with johnin and bacterioscopical examination of faeces were made. Evidence of infection was obtained from microscopic examination and determination of the presence of alcohol-acid resistant bacillus in the intestinal mucus and mesenteric lymphatic glands. The intra-uterine infection was demonstrated by the presence of Johne's bacillus in the spleen of the foetus from one of the positive sheep.
