Abstract

Soybean cv. Garimpo grown in Uberlândia, MG, Brazil, showed deficiency symptons which proved to be of manganese in a leaf and soil analysis. The soil was a Typic Acrustox (Dark-Red Latosol cerrado phase) heavily limed which caused base saturation index of 81% and a pH of 5.9 in CaCl2 solution. Manganese content in the leaves was 13 ppm, considered low when compared to the critical level of 20 ppm.
