Abstract

KieImeyera coriacea Martius (Guttiferae) is a typical botanic specie from brazilian cerrados vegetation (Savanna-like vegetation). It is popularly known as "Pau-Santo". The specific characteristic of K coriacea is its strong suberized bark, from which, cork the main matter for making plates used for covering acustics, thermic and decorative places, is extracted. Nodal segments of plantlets that come from germination in vitro were inoculated in Murashige & Skoog (1962) culture medium enriched by several concentrations of benzylaminopurine (BAP) (0.0 - 0.45 - 4.5 and 22.3mM) and Naphthalenoacetic acid (NAA) (0.0 - 0.55 and 5.mM.) in all possible combinations in one factorial scheme of 4 x 3. The rnaximum shoots proliferation was achieved with 22.3mM BAP + 0.455mM NAA and higher shoots proliferation with more than 1.0 cm height happened when 0.45 mM BAP + 0.0 mM NAA was used.
