Abstract

Thirty crossbred pigs (Landrace x Wessex) were utilized in an experiment to study the effects of colistine and zinc bacitracine on the performance and carcass characteristics of swine. The results of weight gain and feed/gain ratio were not statistically different among the treatments. The treatment T4 produced larger loin-eye area than the other treatments. The backfat thickness, dressing percentage, carcass length and ham percentage were not statistically different among the several levels of colistine and zinc-bacitracin used in growing and finishing swine rations.
