Various methods for determining soil water was conducted on a B textural obtained from IPEAN's Itapirema Experimental Station in Goiana, Pernambuco. The methods used were the direct method for the determination of the field capacity; tension-table for the determination of microporosity; the centrifuge method for the determination of moisture equivalent and Richard's tension membrane at 15 atmosphere for the determination of the wilting point. These results from the determinations of available water were compared with the values obtained from the calculation of the microporosity through the regression equation: Y = 11,96 + 0.67 X. For the soil studied, the value nearest to the field capacity was the calculated microporosity.
