Abstract

The influence of several factors on the growth and morphogenesis of plant cell, tissue and organ cultures have been intensively reported. The present investigation studied the influence of three variable factors on callus culture of Stylosanthes scabra: different NAA and BAP combinations, source and age of explant and two light conditions. The results demonstrated that 10 day hypocotils, cultured on MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg.l-1 of BAP, under 835 lux (1.6 x 102 cal . cm-2 . min-1, of light intensity provided by Gro-Lux lamps produce a greater weight calli with higher levels of shoot regeneration.
