A survey conducted in orchards of the Delfim Moreira Country, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, allowed the characterization of the typical symptoms of the plum leaf scald incidence. A disease associated with the xilem-limited bacterium (XLB), that was considered the principal cause for the declination on this crop in the region, as well as for the foliar dissecation, die-bak and plant death. "Roxa" of Delfim Moreira, the most important cultivar of the region, showed to be highly susceptible to the disease, that was also detected in other cultivars like Rainha Cláudia, Amarela Argentina, Kelsey Paulista, Rainha Gigante, Santa Rosa and Carmesin. All of the orchards evaluated presented symptoms in the plants. This shows the great dissemination of the disease which can seriously limit the crop exploitation in the region.
