Notice of unavailability

2026-08-18

Please be advised that the journal website will be temporarily unavailable during two upcoming periods over the next few weeks. Both scheduled downtimes will take place over weekends.

The first service interruption will occur on August 22 and 23. This downtime is required for electrical grid maintenance at the Embrapa Headquarters, which will necessitate a complete shutdown of the Embrapa data center where our journal is hosted.

The second service interruption will take place on August 29 and 30 for a major upgrade of the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, which manages our editorial workflow. This software upgrade will cause minimal changes to the end-user experience, requiring no new training or learning curve. However, it will significantly improve editorial workflows, enhance system security and privacy protocols, and expand integration capabilities with external systems.

These system upgrades are infrequent, as they are performed exclusively upon the release of a new Long-Term Support (LTS) version, which operates on a 3-to-5-year lifecycle. These specific versions receive focused efforts from the development teams at PKP (Public Knowledge Project), the creator of OJS, to ensure prolonged system stability and security.

The journal platform will return to normal operations on Monday, August 31. Full data backups will be performed prior to both maintenance windows, ensuring that no data will be lost. Authors and reviewers with deadlines falling on any of these maintenance dates are kindly requested to contact their assigned editor to request a deadline extension if needed.
