Abstract

In tropical countries, over 80% of the variability of agricultural production can be explained by the weather, what makes Agriculture the economic activity more dependent on the weather. In this sense, the continued use of information related to the behavior of meteorological variables to support management decision-making processes on rural properties can minimize the risks and ensure the stability of crop productivity levels. This paper describes the experience of Embrapa Agriculture Informatics, Decentralized Research Unit of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and of the Center for Weather and Climate Research Applied to Agriculture (CEPAGRI) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) in the development of the web platform Agrometeorological Monitoring System (Agritempo), including the generation of new versions of the system and its new features.
