The aim of this study is to report the results and experiences of operational agricultural meteorology as a tool to aid decision making in agriculture and fishing in the state of Santa Catarina. Research on agricultural meteorology began in the 70s and the first operational activities in agro-meteorology began in 1986 with the “Cooperative Agricultural Meteorology Information System”. Epagri/Ciram currently offers several agricultural meteorology services to society: weather and climate forecasts; frost forecast; real time meteorological monitoring; information about climatic conditions that may facilitate the occurrence of pests and diseases, growth and development of crops fertilization management in the State of Santa Catarina. Operational agricultural meteorology in the state of Santa Catarina has had major breakthroughs in recent years, allowing for greater assistance to be provided to farmers and fisherman, helping them in their strategic planning and decision making process.Downloads
