Abstract

The objective of this work is to systematize the experiences of the construction of a participatory diagnosis in fishing communities of the Araguaia river, describing the learning and reflections on this social process. In the methodological procedures, different techniques were used to systematize this experience as recommended by Holliday (2006). Among the results, it can be inferred that the systematization of the experience presented here allowed the reader to learn and reflect on the details of the actions of a field work and on the accomplishment of a socioeconomic and technological diagnosis, based on participatory methodologies with specific groups, such as fishermen, ribeirinhos (people who live near rivers), and indigenous people, which can be adapted to different social intervention contexts.

  • Hellen Cristina de Almeida Kato, Embrapa Pesca e Aquicultura
    Mestre em Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos da Universidade Federal do Pará, enfoque em Gastronomia e Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos (Pescados). É Pesquisadora B da Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária - EMBRAPA, atuando na Transferência de Tecnologia na Unidade Pesca e Aquicultura (Palmas - TO). Tem experiência nas áreas de tecnologia do pescado, gastronomia molecular, desnaturação proteica, bioquímica, processamento mínimo, boas práticas de manipulação de alimentos, análise sensorial e higiene alimentar.

    Doutorando em Desenvolvimento Rural pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). É Gestor de Cooperativas e mestre em Extensão Rural, ambos pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV). Atuo no setor de Transferência de Tecnologia da Embrapa Pesca e Aquicultura, em Palmas (TO)
  • Adriano Prysthon da Silva, Embrapa Pesca e Aquicultura
    Formado em Engenharia de Pesca pela UFRPE em 2000 e mestrado em Recursos Pesqueiros e Aquicultura em 2003 pela mesma universidade, atuou na iniciativa privada por oito anos, com gestão participativa e monitoramento pesqueiro para empresas nacionais e estrangeiras de exploração de petróleo e gás, incluindo projetos de compensação ambiental e desenvolvimento de comunidades tradicionais pesqueiras marinhas. A partir de 2010 ingressou na Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária-Embrapa, onde atua como pesquisador. Coordena projetos de pesquisa e desenvolvimento voltado à comunidades pesqueiras continentais, desenvolvendo de forma interdisciplinar e inter-institucional, conhecimentos, tecnologias e indicadores para o manejo sustentável dos recursos pesqueiros e da pesca artesanal.
