Recent studies have shown an increase of the concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide, nitrogen oxides and ozone in the atmosphere. To this increment of gases, originated by anthropogenic sources, it iassigned the responsibility for the additional warming of the earth surface (greenhouse gas effect). This paper deals with the problematic concerned with the climate change and its impact on agricultural sector and also with the contribution of the agricultural activities to the increase of greenhouse gases, identifying the options for mitigation as well as the opportunities related to them. Challenges for the research and development are pointed out.Downloads
