The swine production in Brazil has increased significantly in the last decades, as proved by high productivity obtained. However, this activity has caused environmental problems due to pollution of natural resources like soil and water. The correct management and treatment of hog manure need to be considered as a part of the productive process. The choice of the adequate technology demands technical criteria. The objective of the present article is to present some topics of research conducted in Brazil on hog manure management and treatment having the aim of reducing environmental impacts of the swine production.Downloads
