The objective of this work is to systematize the experiences of the construction of a participatory diagnosis in fishing communities of the Araguaia river, describing the learning and reflections on this social process. In the methodological procedures, different techniques were used to systematize this experience as recommended by Holliday (2006). Among the results, it can be inferred that the systematization of the experience presented here allowed the reader to learn and reflect on the details of the actions of a field work and on the accomplishment of a socioeconomic and technological diagnosis, based on participatory methodologies with specific groups, such as fishermen, ribeirinhos (people who live near rivers), and indigenous people, which can be adapted to different social intervention contexts.Downloads
