This work aims to analyze the process of land regularization in the rural community of Bonfim, established in a mountain environment, inserted in the limits of an integral protection conservation unit. It was developed through the triangulation of information, based on documental and bibliographical analysis, semi-structured interviews and participant observation, having the case study as a methodological basis. Overcoming an exclusively preservationist perspective, it is concluded that the collective organization was decisive for the recognition of the families’ right to stay in the area and for the elaboration of a Law Project for the disaffection of the Bonfim community. Also, it is considered that there is opportunity for initiatives aimed at sustainable agriculture in rural communities mistakenly affected by full protection conservation units, with greater attention to land tenure regularization actions in mountain environments.
