This article analyses the process where the a water producing company is confronted with nitrate pollution of is water table originating from the impact of agricultural production in the North of France. The challenge is how to convince "independent" producers who do not feel to be "polluters" to change the cropping practice and the mix of their crops? This article tries to demonstrate that when confronted with "pollution risk management" the most convincing analyses of situation and most efficient solution is the one using the analytic framework of the theory of conventions.Downloads
