Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the deleterious effects of NaCl on germination and vigor of the cultivars IAC-25, IAC-47, IAC-165, CNA-796019, Lebonnet, IRAT-112 and CICA-8. Samples of seeds were germinated in NaCl solution with - 0,4 and - 0,8 Megapascal (MPa) of osmotic potential. The cultivars IAC-25 and IAC-47 were considered salt tolerants up to - 0,4 MPa of NaCl The cultivars Lebonnet, CNA-796019 and CJCA-8 were considered moderatly tolerante and the IAC-165 and IRAT- 112 little tolerante. However, at - 0,8 MPa on which all material was severely affected by salinity, the cultivars IAC-25, IAC-47 and CNA-796019 were the least susceptible. The cultivar IAC-25, was the most tolerant to salinity and the IAC-165 was the most susceptible.
