Abstract

The present work determined protein and oil content of some national varieties of soybean Glycine max (L.) Merrill. It was observed, by Tukey test, that several varieties have a good protein or oil content and that these parameters should be improved. Variety L-2006 does not distinguish itself for any of the two characteristics analyzed. But its high biological value is pointed out because on many genetic improvement programs material of high nutritional quality has been eliminated due to the fact that such parameter is not carried out.
