Abstract

To study the effect of four levels of fertilization and three sowing densities on the production and quality of dry seeds of the cultivar 'Petrolini' of pea, it was set an experiment in soil classified as "Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro", cerrado phase. Among the variables analized in this study, only the number of seeds per pod was not affected by the treatments; seed production and number of pods per plant were affected by sowing density. Number of pods per plant and plant cycle increased and final stand dicreased as the fertilization levels increased, resulting in lower production of seeds per hectare. The final interaction showed to be significant only for stand. Seed germination and seed vigor showed to be very satisfactory after two-year storage at normal conditions. High productivity of dry seeds as obtained in the different treatments demonstrates the potential of the region for production of dry seeds of this legume.
