Abstract

Bromus auleticus is a native, perennial, winter growing species of grass. His natural habitat is on shallow and stony soils of Southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. In 1990, the collection of individual plants at the "Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Ovinos" of Embrapa was cut between February and September and the yield of dry matter was evaluated. Based on these data the curves of forage distribution were determined. In adittion, the analysis of crude protein and in vitro dry matter digestibility was made. The results show that this species has a good potential for future use as a pasture grass during the winter.
