This study was conducted in an infested field with Meloidogyne arenaria in Colombo, State of Paraná. The experiment was in a randomized block design with 3 replications and the following treatments were applied: 1) aldicarb (10% i.a.) = 40 kg/ha; 2) carbofuran (5% i.a.) = 80 kg/ha; 3) sheep manure = 50 t/ha; 4) chicken manure = 30 t/ha and 5) control. This work was carried out in a greenhouse from May to September, 1990. Nematicides were more efficient in the control of nematodes. They showed greater carrot production and had lower infestation levels of nematodes, and the aldicarb was the best treatment. The organic menures did not permit any statistical increase in production in comparison to the control. However, the high level of organic matter in the soil and the cultivation of carrot during the winter, perhaps decreased the infestation of nematodes and the complementry effect of these treatments.
