Abstract

The objective of this article is to report the experience of the strategies used to commercialize fish from family farms for school feeding adopted in the state of Tocantins, Brazil, through the articulation of different interinstitutional competences to promote rural development and promote food security through the encouragement to fish consumption in public schools. The study described two pilot actions coordinated by Embrapa with the public of the colonies of artisanal fishermen and associations of family fish farmers. The construction of commercialization strategies was developed based on the contribution of the specificities of each institution that operates in the project and the demands of family farming for insertion of the fish in the market through public policies. The results indicate that the proposed strategies can work as benchmarking so that other realities have commercialization alternatives, especially in the context of institutional markets.
