The development and dissemination of antimicrobial resistant microorganisms threaten all the advancements in the treatment of infections. For this reason, the World Health Organization has ranked antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among the 10 most relevant current global public health issues. The objective of this work was to conduct a situational analysis of the research related to AMR at Embrapa and to contribute to its prioritization. The corporate tool Quaesta was used to search the databases of Embrapa projects from 2007 onwards. A total of 147 projects related to the topic were identified. The research centers Embrapa Swine and Poultry, Embrapa Dairy Cattle, and Embrapa Tropical Agroindustry were the three main leaders regarding number of projects. Approximately 78% of the projects were funded exclusively through the Embrapa Management System (SEG). Ninety percent of the projects focused on topics related to animals, food or the environment. The research priorities include fields from molecular biology and nanotechnology to epidemiology and ecology. A coordinated effort of the company in this thematic area may open new pathways for national and international cooperation and funding and to put Embrapa in a better position in the leadership of the global research agenda for antimicrobial resistance prevention and control.
