The Entorno project – developed by Embrapa Roraima in partnership with public educational institutions – promoted sustainable development in a community facing environmental conflicts. The project used an approach based on the ESG set of considerations and included lectures, field visits, laboratory experiments, and writing contests. The results showed that 71% of teachers fully agreed that the activities helped with teaching and learning, by which students understood concepts such as waste, recycling, and conservation. The project strengthened the environmental awareness and fostered the Embrapa Roraima’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the importance of environmental education and community engagement for sustainable development. The methodology of the Entorno project can be replicated to nurture environmentally conscious and responsible citizens.
