This work was carried out to study the effect of Monensin and Olaquindox treatments on the weight gain of 30 Holstein heifers, eight to nine months of age weighing 200 kg on average. The animals were divided into groups of ten and kept in individual boxes for 120 days. The weight gain was greater (0,936 kg P<0.01) for the group treated with Monensin than for the Olaquindox and control groups. The group treated with Monensin showed no variation as for the weight gain when compared to the control but there was a 10% decrease in food consumption (P<0.01) and a better food conversion (9.54).
