The origin of beans (phaseolus vulgaris L.) is multiple and the domestication process look place in two independent genes pools: Mcso-America and Andes. Furthermore the domestication process decreased the genetic diversity based no the phaseolin electrophoretic patterns present in the wild and cultivated form of the species. On contrary, during and after the domestication process the selection of morphological types by ancient farmers increased the genetic variability of morphological traits.
