The experiment was carried out at the Araguaína Experimental Station, north of the state of Goiás, Brazil, at 228 m altitude, 7º 12' S. and 48º 12' W. Gr., ia a lowland sandy soil. During three years, níneteen grasses were evaluated for dry matter production. The most promising ones (for material yielding), ia the rainy and dry seasons, respectively, were: gramalot grass, 4,083 and 1,313 kg/ha; andrequice grass, 3,602 and 904 kglha; setaria, 3,503 and 790 kg/ha; wruckwona, 3,270 and 843 kglha; and cameron grass, 3,148 and 840 kglha.
