Ten lemon (Citrus limon Burm,) cultivars were tested in the north coastal region of the State of Santa Catarina, where the umid climate is favourable for severe Phytophthora attacks. Femminello Santa Teresa and Eureca cultivars presented the highest per tree fruit production. However, by simulating plantings in which plant spacing is adjusted to the treetop diameter for each cultivar, the fruit production per hectare did not present statistical differences between the cultivars Lunário, Gênova, Femminello Santa Teresa and Eureca. The tested clones of Gênova and Lunário cultivars have better Phytophthora resistence and should be preferred in regions where the disease is a problem. Because of lesser plant development and thornlessness, Lunário cultivar makes harvest and plant handling easier.
