trial was carried out to study the effects of Firanor 24 flavor on the performance and carcass characteristics of weaned pigs. The 28 piglets (Largo White x Wessex x Duroc) used received a corn + soybean meal as a basal ration, supplemented with vitamins and minerals. Firanor 24 was added to the basal ration at the following levels: T1 (0,0 and 0 ppm), T2 (250, 250 and 0 ppm), T3 (250,0 and 0 ppm), T4 (500, 500 and 0 ppm), T5 (500,0 and 0 ppm), T6 (750, 750 and 0 ppm), T7 (750,0 and 0 ppm), in the pre-growing, growing and finishing stages, respectively. The rations for these three stages had 18% 16% and 13% of crude protein, respectively, and were fed "ad libitum" at following respective levels of live weight: 9.31 kg to 26.36 kg, 26.36 kg to 50,70 kg and 50.7.0 kg to 90,40 kg. The results showed no differences among the rations with respect weight gain and feed efficiency. The feed intake of the pigs receiving the basal ration (T5) was significantly higher (P< .05) than that of the pigs subjected to the other treatments. Also no significance was observed for carcass characteristics (dressing percentage, carcass lenght, backfat thickness and fat-meat ratio). Loin-eye area and ham percentage were significantly higher (P < .05) for tho animals subjected to treatment T5.
