Abstract

The influence of different kinds of sizes, wooding intensity and harvest upon some corn (Zea mays L.) characteristics was studied at Lavras, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The experiment was installed obeying to the randomized blocks in a split-plot design, with four replications. The size of three com cultivars (AG-301, C-111 and Piranão VD-2), the weeding intensity (0, 1 and 2) and three harvest periods (150, 180 and 210 days) were tested. AG-301 cultivar produced major grain quantity, presenting healthier ears. The weeding use was benefic to all evaluated characteristics. Corncobs heavier were obtained at 150 day harvest, as much for cultivars as for tested weeding intensity.
