Abstract

In this assay it was attempted to evaluate the efficiency of the fungus Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. in the control of sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.), Preliminarily, the CL 50 was determined for pre-pupa and a dose of 1.3 x 105 conidia/ml was found. Under field conditions, the sugarcane stalks were infested with larvae of D. saccharalis, in the 3rd instar, treated with suspensions of the fungus. Mortalities of 47.5% and 56% were observed for 3.7 x 107 and 3.7 x 108 conidia/ml, respectively, and a reduction occured in the damage caused by the pest.
