Abstract

After two cycles of selection, followed by plant intercrossing within the cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.r., latifolium Hutch) cultivar BR-1, that showed variability against the parasitism of the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. vasinfectum Snyder et Hansen, a population with higher tolerance to this pathogen was obtained. No negative effect for production and fiber properties was observed. Tolerance could be improved with more selection cycles, without affecting production and fiber characters.
